1. WHAT IS THE COURSE DURATION?
Financial Modeling Classroom Program is offered in two formats :
1. One-week-long Master Workshop by our lead instructor Mr. Utkarsh Jain, CFA
Utkarsh conducts one week long FM workshops twice a year in December and June. These workshops are comprehensive and application oriented. The content covered in the three-month-long program (which is on weekends) and Master Workshops are the same.
The typical structure of the Workshop is as follows:
Day 1: Introduction, Basic Excel and a discussion on how to screen stocks using multiple screening criteria and though prices around it
Day 2: Advance Excel including Regressions, Solvers and Pivot Tables, Basic Research on a company selected, Smart Use Google Search Functions, Industry Reports, Research Report, Conference Call Scripts, Annual Reports, MD&A Section, etc.
Day 3: Basic Hardcoding in Excel; Building Infrastructure; and Making Analyst Friendly Financials by making appropriate adjustments to line items on Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow Statements including Segment Revenue and other expense.
Day 4: Revenue Modeling, Discussion on Revenue Drivers across industries, Cost Modelling, Debt Schedules, WC Schedule, other relevant supplementary schedules, and integration of IS, BS, and CFS in a revolving structure.
Day 4: Networking Dinner
Day 5: Proofreading entries and validating assumptions, discussion on different valuations techniques namely, Discounted Cash Flows, Relative Valuation and Asset Based Valuation Approaches.
Building a Scenario/Sensitivity Analysis Sheet and a conclusion.
Day 6: Excel Test and discussion on report writing and how to build hypothesis (guest lecture)
Day 7: FM test

Yes, the number of hours of classroom instruction in both the formats is almost same.
Yes, we offer club membership to all classroom participants, which allows you to attend all FM live events at FinTree, across India for lifetime.
We expect candidates to have working level of knowledge of accounting and markets in general. We strongly encourage every candidate to finish the Level Zero course of FinTree to build a solid background before the course begins. We also expect you to have a decent laptop with sufficient battery life. Charging points and Wi-Fi will be provided.
Yes, you get one year access to the online course from the date of enrollment to the classroom program.
Every classroom and online FM program-participant has lifetime access to FinTree placement services. Again, we do not promise any jobs and our placement process purely works on our alumni support. We also expect to you to contribute whenever you can by sharing information and leads. Also note that, certification is issued only after passing the FinTree’s FM test and it requires considerable efforts. If you don’t pass In the first go, you can. register got the next exam date free of cost. we typically conduct exams on the last Sunday of every month.
Do I get any special privileges over FinTree's other candidates if I have FM certification from FinTree?
No. All FinTree candidates are placed in same broadcast list for placements and we do not distinguish candidates based on the courses they have opted for. However, there are certain openings where eligibility criteria will include FinTree’s FM certification, so with these openings you will have an advantage. This typically happens when employers outsource the shortlisting work to us and profile requires strong FM skills. Having our certification (achieved through passing a tough exam) ensures that candidates have the skills necessary required for the job.
All FM live courses are currently held at the Pune center, however candidates from Mumbai and Bangalore have an option to attend live interactive, broadcasted session at our centers. The certification process is the same for all centers.
No, though the skill is universal and can be applied to all modelling applications *(in Excel, with some domain knowledge), the major focus of our courses on FM is on on Equity Research.
Yes , the course is also available in the online format for candidates who can not attend the classroom program at Pune, Mumbai, and Bangalore. The content covered in the classroom and in the online format is the same. Videos are recorded during live session and they also cover queries asked by classroom participants during the recordings.
